WSYD Moving Symposium 2026
Description
Welcome to the WSYD Moving Symposium 2026
From Momentum to Movement: Building the Conditions for Systems Change
Thursday 22 October 2026 | Bankstown Sports Club
Now in its fourth year, the WSYD Moving Symposium brings together people from across the system who share a commitment to creating a healthier, more active and equitable Western Sydney.
WSYD Moving is a Health Promotion Charity bringing together organisations and people across sectors to enable active lifestyles through movement, physical activity and sport — with a particular focus on reducing physical inactivity and health inequity.
Our Vision
A healthier Western Sydney community.
Our Mission
Enable Western Sydney to lead better lives and healthier communities.
Our growing ecosystem now connects 140+ organisations and more than 800 people, creating a platform for collaboration, shared learning and collective action across Western Sydney.
What to expect in 2026
With 40+ speakers from across sectors, this year's program reflects the breadth of work, partnerships and ideas contributing to change across Western Sydney.
Highlights include:

A Federal Address from Zhi Soon MP, Member for Banks
A two-year progress update on the WSYD Moving White Paper

Spotlight Projects showcasing initiatives and emerging practice from across the system
A closing keynote from Bankstown Sports Club
Throughout the day, we'll also create opportunities for networking, strengthening connections and building new relationships across the system.
Who should attend?
The Symposium is designed for people working across health, local government, sport and recreation, planning, housing, academia, education, community and social services, disability, healthy ageing, the social economy and the private sector.
Whether you are shaping policy, delivering services, leading organisations, conducting research, working directly with communities or helping create the places where people live and move, you have a role in the system.
More than a conference
The WSYD Moving Symposium is about bringing different parts of the system into the same room.
It is an opportunity to share progress, challenge thinking, learn from what is happening across Western Sydney, build new relationships and explore what becomes possible when we work differently together.
Together, we'll share progress, build connections and explore how we turn momentum into lasting systems change.
