Christmas Woodworking Gifts: Make a Chopping Board and Planter Box, Pōkeno Hall, Thursday 15 December, 5.00pm to 8.00pm
Event description
Proudly brought to you by Waikato District Council!
Join The ReCreators for a sustainable gift-making session. You will create a beautiful chopping board and/or planter box from reclaimed wood for your family and friends.
A handmade gift is meaningful, and if it is upcycled and good for the planet… then it is even better!
While creating gifts you will also learn about woodwork and how to safely use power tools. We will also provide tips that will help you get started on your next creative project.
There will be a health and safety briefing at the start of the workshop to inform participants of safety precautions before we begin using tools. Tools that will be covered in this workshop are a jig saw, power drill, and sander. All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!). Some work may be outdoors, please wear a sun hat and sunscreen if outdoors.
Also, you need to arrive at this workshop at the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.
The workshop will cover the following:
- Health and Safety Briefing.
- Step-by-step use of all tools
- Where to extend yourself for tools 102
- Personal attention where required
When: Thursday 15 December, 5 pm to 8 pm
Where: Pōkeno Hall, 19 Market Street, Pōkeno.
* Please note children are not able to attend with parents due to health and safety requirements.
