Get prepped for Y11 Physics
Event description
This workshop is for students graduating in 2024.
Avoid the biggest pitfalls of year 11 students by understanding the skills and mindset you’ll need to perform well.
What’s in this workshop?
You’re probably used to rocking up to class and learning what you’re told - this won’t do if you want to succeed in senior school. Successful students know exactly what ideas are in the syllabus before they even learn it. We’ll overview the senior Physics syllabus to categorise big conceptual ideas you should expect to encounter and see how your year 11 understanding fits into the year 12 course.
Then we’ll learn and master a particular skill together; force analysis in Module 2: Dynamics. We won’t be assuming any knowledge, so come in ready to learn in a way you’ve never experienced and have your misconceptions fixed early.
No student will find it easy, but this workshop will help give them an idea on the work they have ahead of them to succeed in Physics. Then, students can use what they have learnt to make an informed decision on which tutoring centre to study senior science with.
Who’s teaching this?
Wayne Wong is our Physics coordinator. He’s skilled with his International Science Olympiad medal and university level engineering & physics understanding. But critically, his four years of teaching experience; both with nationally high-achieving students at the Australian Earth Science Olympiad Summer School, but also a wide reach of students from selective and comprehensive high schools – means he’ll find a way to connect with you to help extract your maximum potential.
