YACVic Rural Sector Huddle: Masculinity, Misogyny and Young People
Description
YACVic Rural invite youth sector professionals to join us in an online forum to explore Masculinity, Misogyny and Young People - What does masculinity mean to young people today and what happens when harmful ideas take hold?
What to expect
This session will examine the influences shaping young people’s understanding of masculinity, the rise of misogynistic attitudes and online influences, and the role of the youth sector in responding.
The Rural Huddle creates an opportunity to explore issues impacting young people, communities and youth work practice through a rural and regional lens. New or emerging research and or practice ideas are presented. Workshop discussions are focused on developing and strengthening collective community and place-based responses, that are practical, evidence-informed and grounded in good practice.
Rural Huddles are held three times a year and bring the rural and regional youth workforce together to deep dive into a single issue. Huddles are hosted online, topic based and use interactive formats including presentations, case studies, small and large group discussions to update, inform and connect those attending. Participants are encouraged to attend the full event not just the research and practice updates.
