yalingbuth yalingbu yirramboi
Event description
yalingbuth yalingbu yirramboi is an event hosted by Wandoon Estate Aboriginal Corporation to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the closure of Coranderrk Aboriginal Station in 1924.
2024 offers an opportunity to reflect on the Coranderrk community’s impressive effort to gain autonomy, and this powerful narrative holds relevance today.
The event will feature the Ilbijerri production of ‘CORANDERRK’. This play provides context; how Coranderrk came to be established, how the 1881 Parliamentary Inquiry came about and what happened after it concluded.
Sharing stories from yalingbuth, where they occurred, reclaims these events of an unjust past, shifting the narrative and transforming yalingbu into a positive yirramboi.
We are thrilled to have award winning singer songwriter Mutti Mutti man Kutcha Edwards and trio perform at Coranderrk.
