Yamba Premiere of Ceibo and Q&A with Pacha Light and Lucy Small
Event description
PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE
Although the Yamba Theatre will not be available due to cyclone water damage, we are so excited to announce the change of venue to Foresthaven in Maclean.
Join us for the Yamba premiere of Ceibo which follows surfers Pacha Light and Lucy Small as they journey across Ecuador to learn how we can better coexist with our planet.
What is the cost of our consumption? It’s replacing the precious marine life in our oceans with plastic, poisoning our rivers and destroying communities as our demand for new technology escalates and our dependence on fossil fuels continues to expand. What can we learn from women in Ecuador where they are deeply connected to their landscapes and communities and where these impacts are felt first?
From the land rights struggles of the Andes and the Amazon, to an Olympic surfer who has carved out a path for women, to the fight to protect the waters of the Galapagos Islands, Ceibo explores some of the most important struggles of our time. Along the way, Pacha untangles her own evolving identity as she reconnects with her Ecuadorian roots and embraces what it means to be Ecuadorian.
This will be an intimate screening of Ceibo and Q&A with Lucy and Pacha, hosted by Eshana. Please note that the seating arrangement will mostly be pillows. We do have a small number of chairs so if you require a chair for mobility reasons please send us a message so we can reserve one for you.
Cosy up with community and enjoy light refreshments with some special Ecuadorian snacks, surrounded by the beautiful native bush and hosted by Friends of Foresthaven.
Event schedule:
6pm - Doors open
7pm - film starts with light refreshments
8:30pm - Q&A with Pacha Light and Lucy Small
How to get there:
There is no parking at Forest Haven itself, so please park in Roderick St and walk up the laneway. It's the last house on the right through the orange and yellow flags.
Carpooling is recommended!
Feel free to join us for a casual drink at the Argyle after the film.
$2 from each ticket will be donated to our impact partners who are doing critical work in the regions of Ecuador where the film is made. We also encourage you to buy a raffle ticket for additional support for these organisations. Tickets will be available to purchase on the night or buy them in advance here.
