Yankalilla Community Garden Spring Open Day with Sophie Thompson

Join us on Sunday the 15th of September for the Yankalilla Community Garden's Spring Open Day for 2024!Â
There will be gardening workshops, guest speaker Sophie Thompson, plants for sale, kids activites, live music, giveaways and a coffee van in the carpark.
When: Sunday 15th of September, 9.30am-1pmÂ
Where: The Yankalilla Youth Park, some activities will take place inside the Library building and others outside in the Community Garden
Schedule for the Day:Â
9:30am–10:45am Guest speaker Sophie Thompson will share her wisdom and experience of gardening. She will highlight the value of volunteering in Community Gardens and how this strengthens & enriches communities.
11am–11:15am Plastic FREE Soil Blocks Demonstration - How to start your seeds growing without using plastic containersÂ
11.15 am–11:45am JADAM Liquid Fertilizer - A practical demonstration on establishing and creating your own Grass and Crop Residue to fertilize your garden. The JADAM method combines traditional farming principles with modern scientific innovations
11am–12noon Family & Kids Activities to join in with. Please note these will be craft & nature based hands on activities, so be prepared for the kids to get their hands and possibly clothes dirty.Â
12noon-1pm Tea & Coffee with Sophie Thompson- your chance to chat with Sophie and enjoy a cuppa, cake and some musicÂ
Booking are essential! We do have restrictions on how many people we can fit in the Hall for Sophies presentation and we need to know numbers for catering purposes, so please let us know if you'll be joining us and select the appropriate ticket for what aspect of the day you'd like to be involved with.Â
