Event description

Menang elder Carol Petterson OAM - is  one of the driving figures behind the Genestreams Sculpture Trail project along with artist Ben Beaton and built by tor Bay artist Mark Hewson. Carol said the sculpture and art piece is a fitting tribute to her people's deep connection to the land.

Come and have a yarn to Aunty Carol and hear the stories and one of the visionaries behind the sculpture and what the future holds for her vision to see sculptures across the land.

She may be supported by some of the children involved in the artwork which is emblazoned in the sculpture. The kids are very proud of being involved and having their artwork on the sculpture.

Aunty Carol has spent much of her life in the Albany area but has a sense of place in the Ravensthorpe region. She was also involved in the award winning Kukenarup Reconciliation Memorial site located 15kms west of Ravensthorpe.

Carol is heavily involved in indigenous affairs on state and federal level including 35 years as a JP.

Proudly sponsored by the Shire of Ravensthorpe and loved by the community.
