Connect with Country: Walk & Yedabila Habitat Pod Workshop

Join Park Ranger Ben Weber and proud Yorta-Yorta and Barapa-Barapa man and ecologist, Kai Lane, for an exciting session of cultural learning and hands-on restoration!

You’ll learn from Kai how to observe and read Country using First Nations Traditional Knowledge on a bushwalk through the magnificent yaluk barring park. You’ll also get the opportunity to help install ‘yedabila’ (meaning animal in Yorta Yorta) habitat pods, these fish hotels will provide safe refuge for native fish.

What to expect

  • Yedabila habitat pod (fish hotel) installation with Kai Lane

  • Cultural heritage session exploring First Nations knowledge and connection to Country

  • A guided walk of approximately 1.5–2 km return

  • The workshop will run for approximately 2 hours

What to bring

Parts of the walk will be along a gravel road and small bush tracks, with some sections being moderately steep. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a drink bottle.

Families are very welcome. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Toilets: The closest public toilets are located at Keilor Public Golf Course which is a short drive from the workshop site.
