Event description

The Youth Educating Peers (YEP) Project is a youth peer lead sexual health project, that uses a harm reduction and sex-positive approach. YEP operates under the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia, thanks to funding from the Department of Health WA's Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus program.

YEP is traveling to Geraldton to deliver a free professional development session for professionals working with 12-25 year olds, entitled: Sex Positivity, Healthy Relationships, and Consent.

In late 2019 YEP surveyed over 100 young people (largely aged 16-25). The survey asked young people about their sexual health educational needs. Out of almost 20 topics, young people surveyed identified healthy relationships and communicating about consent as their most needed areas of education. This workshop will provide professionals with practical tools to discuss and support these issues with their clients.
