YES Youth Hub Trivia Night

Event description

The good humans at the YES Youth Hub - creators of the infamous Bass Coast Youth Pride Prom, and Rainbow Alley - are bringing another amazing event to the Bass Coast for LGBTQIA+ young people and their allies. Delivered with the legendary team at the Y Bass Coast, FReeZA, and Bass Coast Shire Council, with generous funding from the beautiful team at Youth Affairs Council Victoria via their HEY Grants - this is the 2nd of 3 incredible events to be delivered this year! In traditionally fabulous YES Youth Hub fashion, this event is gloriously FREE for young people aged 12 - 25. Get ready to test your trivia knowledge, make new friends, and express your true self in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. This in-person event promises an incredible atmosphere filled with love, acceptance, and lots of laughs! But spots are limited and tickets are essential - so book now! Further deets below :)

FAQ's for Parents/Guardians/Caregivers:

Will my child be safe? All Pride Prom Event Crew, including Staff, Volunteers, Youth Workers, Security, Contractors, Performers and Venue Staff are required to have a valid Working with Children's Check, and licensed security guards will be present on the night to keep your young people safe! All activities and programming at the event are vetted to ensure they are youth appropriate. All our events are alcohol, smoke, vape and drug free. All our events have First Aid Officers in attendance, including Youth Mental Health First Aid Officers should your young person need someone to talk to.

What does 'no passouts' mean? A 'passout' is when people are free to come and go from an event whenever they like. We want your young person to be safe, so when they're in - they're in! When your young person enters our event, they won't be able to leave the venue until the end of the event, unless an adult arrives early to pick them up. Staff will be present outside of the venue after the event to ensure young people get home safely.

What time does the event end? The event finishes promptly at 8pm - so please ensure that your young person has transport organised to get home - we will ensure that young people are safe until you arrive.

Can parents come along on the night? We understand that sometimes parents want to have a peek, but unfortunately we can’t welcome in parents of attendees to this event, as this event is for young people aged 12 - 25 ONLY (we're very lucky to receive funding from the Victorian Government to host events for youth within this age bracket, and this guides our target audience!). Rest assured though, that our youth workers, staff and volunteers will be there to make sure your child has the best experience possible. We expect this event to sell out, and have limited tickets - so please do not register a ticket for yourself. This will take a ticket away from a young person who we can guarantee is SUPER KEEN to attend! For information regarding Carers please contact the YES Youth Hub for details: yesyouth.hub@ymca.org.au

The YES Youth Hub, YMCA Bass Coast, and FReeZA acknowledge First Nations’ sovereignty and recognises the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia on the land on which this event will take place; and the lands we live on, work on, and travel through. We pay our respect to their Elders, past and present, and their ongoing connections to the land, seas and sky. Always was, always will be.
