You Spot It You Got It: Unpacking cultural conditioning and turning the mirror inwards
Event description
Talanoa Tai Learning is a new collection of learning experiences. They're designed to help you build your cultural responsiveness and improve your ability to engage meaningfully with Pacific communities. Talanoa is a Pacific style of deep dialogue, with a focus on how we connect to each other and strengthen relationships, while still being able to share honest and effective insights. If you want to strengthen your capability in this space, to create transformational change, and to enhance your relationships with people from different communities - this workshop is your chance to grow.
What will I gain from You Spot It, You Got It?
In You Spot It, You Got It, you will deepen self-awareness by being encouraged to recognise some of your own conditioning and impacts of this in your daily life/practices. When we are not conscious of the things that might not sit right within us then we unknowingly or knowingly project them onto others. What we reject, we project. By examining patterns and recognising our conditioning, then we can truly understand how we can live in more conscious ways. This Talanoa Tai learning experience offers space for talanoa, tools and exercises to facilitate introspection and personal growth by turning the mirror inwards.
This is a 3 hour in-person learning experience.
Who is this workshop for?
These learning experiences are for both Pacific professionals and those from other communities. You don’t need to have prior knowledge or experience in this area - we’ll meet you where you are and provide a welcoming, supportive environment for you to learn.
Cultural responsiveness is for everyone. Whether you’re in social work, education, government, community sectors or beyond, these learning experiences have been designed to help everyone build their skills. If you think this professional development might be right for you, it is!
Cost
When work is busy and budgets are tight, cultural responsiveness can often take a backseat. But this is an affordable investment that will help you address the challenges that so many of us share, like how to build engagement and trust, and avoid relationship missteps. It’s not a buzzword; it’s a vital skill if you want to better meet the needs of the people you serve. Price: $170 (inc GST) per person, including morning tea.
