Young At Heart: Experience Rolling Plains, Snow-Capped Peaks, an Alpine Roller-Coaster and Cherry Picking

Join us for this 3 day adventure through the Snowy Mountains, to experience the rugged high places of Australia, find endless epicurean delights and equally endless country charm in the Cherry Capital of Australia, Young. Enjoy the panoramic views and immerse yourself in the stunning Australian landscapes as we travel through Canberra, Cooma, Jindabyne, Thredbo, Kosciuszko National Park, Tumut, Wombat, Young & Goulburn.

This is more than a trip. Whether you join us as part of a group or by yourself, the experiences and excursions are the perfect opportunities to connect with other people with common interests, make new friends, and explore some of the most amazing destinations in Australia.

ITINERARY

🌞 Day 1

We will make our way to the Nepean Dam. Optional Walk: Walk along the Dam Wall to the other side to see the spillway. 

Morning Tea & Coffee will be served with cake and biscuits. 

Visit Lake George, which currently has lots of water. 

We then cross into the A.C.T. & visit the nations capital - Canberra. 

Visit Canberra Central & walk along City Walk in the Mall. 

Enjoy the surroundings of Glebe Park. 

After lunch we will visit the National Arboretum & view the city from up high. 

Visit the National Bonsai Collection. 

We continue through the mountains arriving in Cooma for 2 nights accommodation at Red Hill Cooma Motor Inn.

🌞 Day 2

We commence the day with a great view overlooking Cooma from Nanny Goat Lookout. 

Then a unique visit to Cooma Jail, which is the only Jail you can visit in N.S.W. where you will meet inmates, walking tour & the making of products. A guided tour with an inmate showing you around the jail & museum will be a fascinating experience. It is a low security jail, so you should be fine, however I will double check the numbers when we return to the bus. 

Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre will be the next destination for a look at one of the largest engineering projects ever completed within N.S.W. 

A visit to Raglan Gallery & Cultural Centre & a visit to Charles Davis Photography will provide vision of amazing artwork in the historical building & fine photos. 

Visit Jindabyne for Lunch & then continue to Thredbo. 

You can purchase an optional: lift ticket to take you up to 1,927 metres high, where you can then walk to the highest point in Australia or jump on the new roller coaster, which has only been completed & is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, Thredbo Alpine Coaster | Coming in 2024! (youtube.com). 

You can always do your own thing and go for a walk along Thredbo River & visit the mountain village of Thredbo.

Day 2 OPTIONS: Birds Nest - Shopping, Cooma Car Club - Cars, Thredbo Scenic Lift & Thredbo Roller Coaster.

🌞 Day 3

We will depart early and head west over the mountains to Tumut for a break and a look at the town & information centre. 

We then continue to Wombat to experience Cherry picking on a Farm. Eat as much as you like, while you pick & taste all the different varieties of cherries. You will have an opportunity to purchase your own 1, 2 or 5kg boxes to take home, just in time for Christmas. 

We will stop at the Big Merino in Goulburn on the way home & then say goodbye to our friends & adventure, until the next time anyway.
