Q&A:
Am I a Young Carer? Young Carers are people up to the age of 25 years old. They provide unpaid care and support to family member/s, or friends with, a disability, physical or mental illness, a substance dependency or who is aged or frail.
What if I am feeling unwell or my caring role stops me from attending? We understand that caring responsibilities can change unexpectedly, and sometimes people get sick. If you can’t attend, please let the facilitator know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to another Young Carer.
Do parents stay for the event? No. We ask that parents or guardians sign their Young Carer in and then leave them in the care of Carers Queensland staff. All staff hold Blue Cards and are fully trained in child safety and emergency procedures.
Do I have to be registered with Carers QLD to attend this event? Yes. The Young Carer will need to be registered with Carers Queensland if a ticket is offered. A staff member will assist with this process closer to the event date.
Are there minimum numbers required? Yes. The event may be cancelled if minimum numbers are not reached.
