Young children’s multimodal literacies on, and off screen

Multimodal literacies involves the use of multiple modes of communication including talk, still and moving images, audio and other mediums. An understanding of multimodal literacies is important as young children are growing up in a world where digital technology and other forms of communication are essential in their literacy practices. This session will explain how young children interact with multimodal texts both on and off screen, and you will learn how to support children’s multimodal literacies in your early childhood education and care service. You will also apply your learning and play with an online digital production tool.
