School-based young people and alcohol and other drugs: Hot topics 2021

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

COVID-19 and the resulting restrictions continue to impact Australian young people and their families. Research investigating changes to the access and availability of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) during this time, as well as patterns of use across the general community, continues both here and internationally.

Little is known, however, about its impact on the AOD use of school-based young people. This webinar will provide information on several AOD issues that schools are currently reporting, with a particular focus on 'vaping', nitrous oxide or 'nanging' and cannabis. It will also examine the changes in how drugs are being bought and sold, i.e., online, delivery services and social media apps. Finally, it will examine what schools can realistically do in this, or in any 'social issue' area and what role the classroom teacher can play in keeping our young people safer.

Cost: $20 plus GST
