Our guest speaker will be Troy Bottegal, Troy is the director of Waveco, and a key driver behind the Bunbury Artificial Reef project. The Bunbury project is the result of an independently funded study privately funded by Troy and conducted by his company Waveco in collaboration with the US coastal consultancy Integral Inc., based in Sanata Cruz CA.

The site settled on for completed study was the Clam Reef outcrop at Bunbury’s Back Beach. Clam was selected for its suitability for an artificial surfing reef as well as it’s predicted erosion protection effects on the nearby Hungry Hollow stretch of beach. Troy will be showcasing the projects details and the opportunity for Bunbury along with a 1:100 scale fibreglass model of the proposed reef.
