Event description

Welcome to the final instalment of ✨Your Place in Space✨ for 2025, a three-part event series brought to you by the Adelaide University Space Society.

'How will society live off-world?' We will need more than just a place to live, but a home away from home. Architecture is more than just designing the structures themselves, but also about the design, the lighting, the sounds, the smells, and the greenery that will remind us of Earth. Psychology, looks at how humans will react to this (literally) alien environment, and guide how we deal with the psyche of the inhabitants dealing with home-sickness, isolation, claustrophobia, and dealing with the clashing of people and culture. Law determines what rules will need to be in place while living off-world, and whether existing laws bound to Earth should be laxed or tightened off-world. Further, how do we deal with criminals in space? Who makes the laws, who polices them, and who adjudicates guilt and punishment?

This event looks at more than just a simple 'where' to live off-world, but considers 'how' and 'why' we should live in peace and order. This is your chance to hear from experts in the industry, learn about the latest advancements, and get insight into how YOU can get involved.
