Your right to intimacy
Event description
Older people have the same right to intimacy as any else. That includes older people who live with dementia or other cognitive impairments. The diverse ways in which older people express their sexuality and gender should be respected by family, carers and aged care workers without judgement.
Our panel of experts for this webinar include:
- Dr Catherine Barrett, Founder/Director, Celebrate Ageing
- Gwenda Darling, Member, National Older Persons Reference Group, OPAN
- Shawnee van Poeteren, Senior Project Officer – Advocacy Practice, OPAN
- Rachael Brennan, PhD Student, School of Public Health, The University of Queensland
The discussion, followed by a live Q&A, will unpack the complexities and benefits of continuing intimate relationships as we age and how to navigate these needs safely.
You are encouraged to submit questions in advance, during registration. We will answer as many as we can. If we don’t get to your question, if your question relates to a specific issue or complaint, you can call an advocate on 1800 700 600.
