With Carolynn's guidance, I felt both anchored and liberated. I definitely recommend the class to anyone wanting to be more embodied. You will surprise yourself with how good you'll feel at the end.
✨ Dance Medicine Event
Description
Move. Belong. Return.
November's dance will explore the theme of belonging. The holidays promise connection. Yet for many of us, that experience feels complicated. The dance floor invites us to explore belonging as something we remember when we return to our bodies. With music as our guide, we share the dance floor together, connecting first with ourselves, then, perhaps, with each other.
What is Dance Medicine?
Dance Medicine is a conscious meditative dance journey offered monthly to the community. We practice presence through movement and use movement to find the stillness within. The music guides the dance, drawing from global fusion including but not limited to meditative soundscapes, tribal, folk, electronic, spoken word, techno, drum and bass, and more. Music will vary in rhythm, tempo and style.
People dance for so many reasons: to release, to open, to celebrate, to pray, to move. When we approach dance through a dance medicine lens, we trust that the body knows how to move.
Beginners welcome!
No choreography.
No "right steps".

Come just as you are.
Every Body is welcome.

Move. Belong. Return.✨
12:00pm - 1:30pm
What to Expect
11:50 - 12:05 - Check-In and independent warm up
Use this time to begin to connect with your body. The music will invite gentle movement, slowing down, stretching if that feels good for you and time to more fully arrive and settle into the space.
12:05 - Opening Circle
We gather together to pause before the dance. Carolynn will briefly share the intention behind dance medicine, the guidelines and an exercise that guides our group into the dance journey.
1:20 - Closing Circle
We spend a few minutes at the end of our dance to allow for integration and optional group sharing. Most often, we provide a small snack to take with you:)

FAQs
- Do I need dance experience?
Not at all! Beginners are welcome. This is a free-form dance practice which means that I'm not teaching you how to dance. I am creating a space for you to find your own movements. I will help you get started through an embodiment practice and offer very light guidance during the dance journey. The music will help guide your dance exploration. I believe that if you have a body, you are a dancer.
- Are you professionally trained?
Yes! I am a conscious dance facilitator and a Dance The Medicine teacher-in-training, having completed Level 1 and Level 2, working towards full certification. I'm also a member of the ICMTA - the International Conscious Movement Teachers Association.
- Does this include a live DJ?
No. I curate a powerful and thoughtful music set list drawn from music around the world. We call it "the magic carpet ride" because it will take you on an evocative music and movement journey. Our music transitions are seamless. Fun fact: I'll be a certified DJ next year:)
