Youth Circle: Girl Power!
Event description
Youth Circles a series of independent workshops for girls aged 10-15yo created and facilitated by Naturopath, Cyena Caruana.
Youth Circles feature a different topic each time but all relevant to the emotional, social and physical changes that tweens go through in the transition to puberty teenage-hood.
Youth Circles aim to:
- Empower tweens and teens through education and self-awareness activities on their journey of emotional and physical development from tween to teen-age;
- Deepen connections within their peer group;
- Create a space for quality time between mother and child;
- Create a sense of greater community for tweens and teens by connecting them with peers and other adult women in a safe space;
- Develop self-confidence by promoting self-reflection, verbalization, respect and honouring of their personal experience in a social context;
- Promote self-awareness and resource their mental toolkit with strategies for navigating situations in daily life.
Girl Power!
In this workshop we will explore how girls can keep their personal power. In order to do this, we need to look at how girls tend to, and may be conditioned to (due to social conditioning) give their power away!
In this Youth Circle girls will learn to
- increase self-awareness of personal needs and boundaries,
- identify mental and behavioural habits that aren’t serving them;
- take responsibility for their choices and feel empowered in that process;
- change unhelpful attitudes and behaviours towards self and peers, and so change unhealthy relationship dynamics;
- consciously build on the foundations for healthy self-esteem;
- feel more connected to other girls through deep listening in circle work.
Youth Circles consist of a variety of activities including self-reflection, group discussion, meditation, parent-daughter discussion and circle sharing.
A light afternoon tea will be provided at the end of the workshop.
