Youth Futures Summit 2022
Event description
The Youth Futures Summit is a virtual event that brings together thousands of people from across multiple and diverse sectors and communities to:
Engage in the biggest issues impacting young people,
Inspire ideas and actions for change,
Enable meaningful opportunities to learn, grow and connect with others,
Influence the systems and structures that impact us all.
BACKGROUND:
Over the last two years, the world has been devastated by the impacts of COVID-19. In Australia, we saw the highest levels of youth unemployment and underemployment, increasing debt for young people, disruption to school and education, serious mental health challenges, and much more.
But one thing is clear, none of these issues are new. We needed to come together to confront our generation-defining struggles and create a vision for life beyond the pandemic.
After the success of YFS2020, we’re back to shift focus towards creating long-lasting changes that will empower and embolden young people for generations to come.
Are you with us?
Now is the time to speak with young people, not over them; to invite them into the room.
This Summit has been designed by young people but it is for a wide audience. The event will create an intergenerational dialogue between decision-makers, influencers and young people and produce a Youth Charter which outlines to the Australian community their needs and hopes.

ABOUT THE ORGANISERS:
YFS2022 is brought to you by Youth Development Australia (YDA) and the National Youth Commission Australia (NYCA).
Youth Development Australia Ltd (YDA) was created in 2005 as a platform for change and as a way of exploring, developing and implementing innovative youth development initiatives. YDA has a foundational commitment to disadvantaged young Australians. The participation of young Australians in the building of their future is a core value. Exercising independence, YDA seeks to be a ‘platform for change’ and a vehicle that young people can use to realise their ambitions and meet their needs in the 21st Century world to come.
The National Youth Commission Australia (NYCA) is an independent, non- partisan community inquiry into the challenges faced by young people preparing for and seeking work now and into the future. It draws together the expertise and lived experience of diverse young people across the country, along with ideas from experts and the broader public, to create solutions to overcome these challenges.
