Event description

The Youth Forum 2025 is a half-day interactive event designed to engage young people aged 12–24 years from diverse backgrounds across the LGA. The forum will provide a platform for youth to voice their ideas, discuss key issues affecting them, and collaborate with local leaders to influence policy and services.

The Forum will aim to foster:

  1. Youth participation and engagement: by providing an inclusive space for young people to share concerns, aspirations, and ideas for local government programs.
  2. Capacity building: interactive workshops and guest speaker sessions will empower young people with knowledge and skills.
  3. Networking and collaboration: between young people, local organisations, and government representatives.
  4. Youth voice on policy and advocacy: with insights from young people to inform local government policies and services.

The keynote speaker will be Jahin Tanvir, an award-wining advocate for young people and CEO of the Australian School of Entrepreneurship. Jahin is 3-time TEDx speaker, Board Director at the Adolescent Health Association of Australia, and Ambassador for UNICEF and Movember. Jahin was awarded 2021 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year, 2022 Young Australian of the Year finalist, and named among the 2022 ‘40 under 40’ Most Influential Asian-Australians at the age of 21 years.

A youth survey is open through Your Say Randwick, 27 March – 15 May 2025, to inform the break-out sessions of the Youth Forum. The survey prompts young people to share their views on challenges, opportunities and services in the community.

Registration for the Youth Forum is on-line and through the local youth services network.
