Event description

Course Overview: Youth Mental Health First Aid is a comprehensive 2-day, face-to-face course designed for adults who live with, work with, or support young people aged 12-24. Given that over 50% of mental health problems manifest before the age of 18, it is crucial to identify and address these issues early. This course equips you with the skills to make a significant and positive impact on a young person's life.

What You Will Learn:

  • Mental Health Awareness: Understand common mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders, and psychosis.
  • Crisis Management: Learn how to assist a young person in crisis, including those who may be self-harming or contemplating suicide.
  • Practical Skills: Gain the confidence to have life-saving conversations and provide early support to young people.

About the Trainer: Maree is a highly experienced trainer and facilitator, as well as a practising registered teacher. She brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the challenges and rewards involved in supporting young people's learning, health, and wellbeing. Maree's approach to teaching is inclusive, engaging, and fun, ensuring you feel comfortable to ask any questions.

Accreditation: Upon completing this course and a short multiple-choice task, you will receive a 3-year accreditation as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.

Join us to empower yourself with the skills to support young people's mental health effectively.
