🌿 Join the Youth Roving Landcare Group for a morning along the Murrumbidgee River! 💚

Want to spend time making a positive impact this weekend? Come along and join the Youth Roving Landcare Group for a morning of planting and weed control with like-minded nature enthusiasts. This event, for ages 15 to 30, is a collaboration with the Parkcarers of Southern Murrumbidgee (POSM) group and offers a perfect opportunity to connect with nature and meet new friends! We are also lucky enough to have Ngunawal Elder Wally Bell joining us to provide some cultural insights on the day!
About the Youth Roving Group:
The Youth Roving Group unites young nature enthusiasts from across Canberra to care for the environment while fostering a strong sense of community. It’s a chance for you, the next generation of Landcarers, to actively contribute to environmental conservation and build lasting connections.
About Parkcarers of Southern Murrumbidgee (POSM):
Parkcarers of Southern Murrumbidgee is a small, informal, enthusiastic ParkCare group who take care of an area on the Murrumbidgee River, from Point Hut Crossing to Pine Island, including part of Barney’s Hill. The plant diversity in the area is fantastic – from grevilleas to casuarinas to eucalypts, with many small shrubs, forbs and grasses such as blue devils and kangaroo grass - come along and explore!Â
What to Expect:
- Meeting like-minded young people
- Planting Casuarinas to control river bank erosion
- Weeding some pesky invasive species to help promote native biodiversity.
- Learning the basics of the Field Maps app to register land management information
What to Bring:
- Gardening gloves, Hat, sunscreen, Sun glasses/safety glasses, and closed-toed/strong shoes
- Long pants and tops
- Water bottle
- Snacks for morning tea
- Lots of enthusiasm!

- Mattock
