Event description

Applications are now open to join the Australian Government's Youth Steering Committee.

Join this info session with the Australian Government Office for Youth to hear about the Youth Steering Committee. This session is an opportunity to ask questions about the application process and how to write an application for the Youth Steering Committee.

The Australian Government's Youth Steering Committee works with the Office for Youth to provide advice about policies and programs that matter to young people. The Youth Steering Committee includes 14 young people who represent the diversity of young people in Australia.

What will I do as a member?

The Youth Steering Committee works with the Office for Youth on the Australian Government’s new strategy Engage! A strategy to include young people in the decisions we make. This includes advising us about the design and delivery of actions in Engage!

You will also team up with us to advise the Australian Government about policies and programs for young people.

Members get training and professional development so that you feel comfortable and confident participating in meetings.

The Youth Steering Committee is supported by the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC) and the Office for Youth.

Who can apply?

If you are aged between 12 and 24 you can apply to join the Youth Steering Committee. You don’t need to have prior experience on an advisory group or board or as a volunteer to join.
