Description

2027 Youth Train the Trainer | Organisation and Schools Expression of Interest

Bring First Nations Youth Train the Trainer program to your school or organisation in 2027!

First Nations Foundation (FNF) is inviting Expressions of Interest from schools and youth-focused organisations interested in FNF delivering a Youth Train the Trainer program for their team in 2027.

Delivered in person or online, this training equips participants to become accredited Mentors, enabling them to deliver FNF’s Financial Fitness for Youth program to First Nations young people in their school or community.

Our aim is to support organisations already working alongside young Mob, providing culturally safe, practical tools to build financial literacy and money confidence from a young age.

Minimum participants: 15 for in-person delivery and 10 for online delivery. Submitting an EOI does not guarantee a training placement. FNF will review submissions and contact organisations about potential opportunities.

About the program

First Nations Foundation is an Aboriginal-led not-for-profit organisation, created for Mob, by Mob.

Financial Fitness for Youth supports First Nations young people to develop foundational financial literacy skills, build positive relationships with money and feel more confident navigating financial decisions.

The program includes three learning streams tailored to different age groups and stages of life:

  • Year 10 | Financial Foundations (ages 14–16): Introducing core money concepts and building foundational understanding.

  • Years 11–12 | Financial Capability (ages 16–18): Applying financial knowledge to practical decisions and preparing for life after school.

  • School Leavers | Financial Independence (ages 18–24+): Navigating money, responsibilities and financial decisions more independently.

Each stream is structured around four core modules:

  • Money Mindsets and Relationships with Money

  • Money Foundations

  • Money Safety and Security

  • Looking Forward and Carrying Culture

Who should apply?

This opportunity is designed for schools, youth centres and youth-focused organisations that work directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

Organisations and nominated participants should:

  • Have established relationships with First Nations young people.

  • Have the capacity to deliver financial education workshops within their school or community.

  • Be available to complete the full two-day training, online or in person.

  • Commit to providing attendance data, workshop reporting and feedback to FNF.

  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check where required.

Participants do not need to identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander but must have meaningful, ongoing relationships with the young people they support.

What will accredited Mentors receive?

Following successful completion of the training and assessment, Mentors will receive:

  • Lesson plans, student handbooks and facilitator guides.

  • Access to FNF’s program resources and course materials.

  • A certificate of accreditation.

  • Ongoing learning opportunities, coaching and connection with the FNF team.

Ongoing commitments

Accredited Mentors and their organisations agree to:

  • Deliver a minimum of two Financial Fitness for Youth workshops per calendar year.

  • Complete the required surveys and reporting to help FNF measure program reach and impact.

  • Share feedback and participate in ongoing support and reaccreditation requirements.

  • Enter into an agreement with FNF to uphold program delivery standards and acknowledge FNF’s ownership of the program’s intellectual property.

Mentors must also complete an online refresher at 12 months and attend in-person reaccreditation every two years to maintain accreditation and access to program resources.

Express your interest

If your school or organisation is already working alongside First Nations young people and wants to strengthen their financial capability, we would love to hear from you.

Submit your EOI to tell us about your organisation, the young people you support, your team’s capacity and your preferred training format for 2027.

Our team will review submissions and be in touch regarding potential delivery opportunities.

Financial Fitness for Youth provides financial education and capability-building tools, not individual financial advice.
