Dr. Yulia Lipmanovich is a Russian-born concert pianist and distinguished piano educator based in Chicago. Internationally acclaimed as both a performer and master teacher, she has built a career that bridges the great traditions of classical performance with excellence in modern music education. Trained in the distinguished Russian pianistic tradition, Dr. Lipmanovich is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Art of Piano Playing & Performing Arts, located in Chicago's historic Fine Arts Building.

Dr. Lipmanovich began her musical studies at an early age with her mother, pianist and renowned teacher Madame Luba Lipmanovich-Yackobishvili, and later continued her studies in Moscow with the celebrated pianist Tatiana Nikolayeva. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School in New York, where she was a protege student  on a full scholarship studied with the legendary pedagogue Madame Rosina Lhevinne. She earned her Master of Music degree from the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, studying with Professor Pnina Salzman and Professor Arie Vardi, and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with Professor Ian Hobson.

An award-winning pianist, Dr. Lipmanovich won the Soviet Composers Piano Competition in Moscow and the Young Artists International Competition in New York, leading to her debut recital at Carnegie Hall. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in recital throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, Israel, and Asia.Her performances have taken her to many prestigious venues, including Carnegie Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall, the Chicago Cultural Center, Studebaker Theater, and Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University. She has also performed throughout England, Italy, and Spain, including appearances at the Dartington International Summer School and the St. Lewis Music Festival in England.Among her notable Chicago performances are appearances on the Fazioli Concert Series, broadcast live on WFMT, and her acclaimed All-Russian Program at the Harold Washington Library Pritzker Auditorium, which was televised numerous times on WTTW.

She has also appeared at the Fine Arts Building Gala in Curtiss Hall, the Fourth Presbyterian Church Concert Series, and the Schubertiade at Pianoforte Chicago. As a concerto soloist, she has performed Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with orchestra in Chicago.

Her performances have been featured on WFMT, WTTW, WGN, PBS, NBC, and FOX.

An inspiring and highly respected educator, Dr. Lipmanovich has served on the piano faculties of The Boston Conservatory, Boston College, Northeastern University, Daley College in Chicago, and the Rubin Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem. She currently serves on the faculty of the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy, and the Summit Music Festival in New York and Spain.In 2026, Dr. Lipmanovich began an artistic collaboration with the Conservatoire de la Vallée d'Aoste in Aosta, Italy, where she presented highly successful master classes for outstanding young pianists. She continues to be invited internationally to perform, teach master classes, and serve as an adjudicator for prestigious piano competitions.

Among her distinguished jury appointments, Dr. Lipmanovich served as an Honorary Judge for the Madame Rosina Lhevinne International Piano Competition in San Marco, Italy, as a juror for the Mozart International Piano Competition, and for the 5th Chopin  International Piano Competition in Bangkok, Thailand, where she also presented solo recitals and master classes, including at Mahidol University, College of Music.

Dr. Lipmanovich is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association (CAMTA) and is a Steinway Educational Partner.

Alexander Tyfer is a violinist, conductor, composer, and educator  whose career combines international performance, pedagogy, and musical  research. Described by Mstislav Rostropovich as a “world-class violinist”  distinguished by “versatile virtuosity, beautiful and expressive sound,  artistry, and bright performing charisma,” Tyfer has performed as a soloist  and chamber musician in the United States, Europe, and Russia. 

He is a prize-winner of international violin and chamber music  competitions in Russia, the United States, Italy, and Bulgaria. 

Educated in the Russian violin tradition, Tyfer began his musical  studies at the age of six. Since 1997, he has performed regularly as a soloist  and conductor with orchestras in Russia, the United States, and Europe. He  has served as concertmaster, soloist, and second conductor of the National  Symphony Orchestra in Ufa, Russia, and as solo concertmaster of the  Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra in St. Petersburg. In 2012, he toured  extensively throughout the United States with the Tchaikovsky Symphony  Orchestra, performing in New York, Chicago, Boston, Charleston, and  other cities. 

His repertoire encompasses major concertos and works by Vivaldi,  Mozart, Paganini, Wieniawski, Mendelssohn, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms,  Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Sarasate, Rachmaninoff, Kreisler,  Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, and many others. He has also given first  performances of works by contemporary composers who dedicated their  compositions to him. 

Tyfer has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York and at international  festivals in the United States and Europe, including the Peter the Great  Festival in the Netherlands, New York Piano Festival, and Music Without  Borders Festival in Portland, Maine. He has collaborated with  distinguished musicians including Albert Markov, Alexander Markov,  and Nina Beilina.
