Rise & Thrive: Whittlesea Girls Day

Strong girls, stronger together

Looking for something fun to do these September school holidays?

Come along to Rise & Thrive: Whittlesea Girls Day a free, beginner-friendly sports clinic for young women aged 15-25 from Whittlesea and surrounding areas!


Try out 4 fun activities designed to get you moving, build confidence and connect with other young women:

  • Volleyball

  • Kickball

  • Hula Hoop Rhythm

  • Relay Race

No previous sporting experience is needed; just come along, have a go and enjoy the day in a welcoming and supportive environment.

  • What age group is this for?

    The Program is for young women aged 15-25

  • What Should I bring?

    Bring a drink bottle and wear comfortable clothing you can move around in.

  • What if I don't have sporting clothes or shoes?

    Any comfortable clothing can be sporting clothing, however if you require assistance to access appropriate sporting clothes or footwear the team at Whittlesea Community Connections might be able to assist. Reach out to youth@whittleseacc.org.au for more information.

  • Is the program inclusive?

    Yes we aim to create a welcoming, inclusive, supportive space for all young women.

  • How much does it cost?

    It is free!

  • Do I need to register?

    Yes. registrations are necessary as places are limited.

  • Can I come on my own?

    Yes. Many people attend on their own and its a great way to meet new people and build confidence.

Description

Transport Options that may be helpful

  1. Tram Route 86 (Bundoora RMIT): Runs from Waterfront City (Docklands) along Bourke Street in the CBD and up Plenty Road, stopping directly at the campus (Stop 60 for the main entrance/Medical Centre). Comes also from McKimmies Road & Plenty Road south to La Trobe University

  2. Trains & Connecting Buses: Mernda Line: Catch the train to Reservoir Station, then transfer to Bus 301 (express shuttle during semesters) or Bus 561 directly to the campus.

Hurstbridge Line: Take the train to Heidelberg Station (and connect via weekday Bus 551) or to Macleod Station (and connect via Bus 561).

  1. Direct Buses Route 566: Runs from Lalor through Northland Shopping Centre and Bundoora RMIT to La Trobe.


Driving & Parking

  • Access: Enter the Bundoora campus via Plenty Road or Kingsbury Drive, following the internal signs toward the La Trobe Sports Park precinct on Sports Drive (situated behind carparks 2A and 2B in the south-west sector).

  • Parking: On-campus parking is available in designated university parking zones and visitor bays close to the sports precinct.
