ZCPNS 4-Nov-2026 Dinner Meeting

Lucy Bohan was Zonta Club of Perth Northern Suburbs' second club president in 1982. She started nursing in 1948, rising to Director of WA’s General Nursing Services, retired in 1986 and passed in February 1990. 

Following the passing of the Club’s much-loved Charter Member and Past President, the bursary was renamed in her honour to recognise her outstanding contribution to the nursing profession in Western Australia.

The Lucy Bohan Nursing Bursary has been an annual award since 1988, established to support mature-age female students experiencing financial difficulties in completing their studies following the introduction of course fees.

Through sponsorship, the Lucy Bohan Nursing Bursary provides an award of $2,000 to a female student at Edith Cowan University (ECU) who has successfully completed the first year of either of the following courses:

• Bachelor of Science (Nursing)

• Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) - double degree

Our annual presentation dinner celebrates Lucy Bohan’s legacy of dedication and service to nursing, while supporting the next generation of nurses as they pursue their studies and careers.
