Event description

Join North Central CMA to hear about the re-discovery of the southern purple spotted gudgeon (aka zombie fish), which was declared extinct in Victoria in 1988 and re-discovered near Kerang in 2019.

Riley Street reserve acts as a ‘surrogate site’ for purple spotted gudgeon and more recently threatened olive perchlet. Activities include retrieving fyke nets and bait traps, identifying, counting, and measuring fish, measuring the water quality, and building a model ‘fish surrogate site’. Learn about threats to native fish in northern Victoria and community actions underway to recover native fish populations.

This event is for children and their responsible adult(s).

The exact meeting spot will be included in your tickets.
