Zonta Sydney Breakfast - February Club Meeting (Zoom)
Event description
You are invited to our February Club meeting via Zoom. Join us at 7:00am for a 7:05am start.
TRIGGER WARNING: Our Zonta Club’s discussions and guest speakers cover sensitive topics related to the areas in which we endeavour to make change. These areas include, but are not limited to: gender-based violence, child marriage, girls’ access to education, women’s health and more. Should our discussion topics trigger an emotional response for you, we suggest that you take precautions to care for and guard your wellbeing.
This month, we commemorate World Social Justice Day which falls annually on the 20th of Feb. This day highlights awareness of social inequality and break down intersectional barriers to reducing poverty, enhance pathways for decent and dignified work, full social welfare, promote sustainable growth, and universal availability of psycho-social wellbeing and equality, especially for vulnerable and marginalised members of our communities.
The club is delighted to be joined by MARISA MOLITERNO, Project Manager @CRC - Community Restorative Centre for Miranda Project & Pathways Home programs
Marisa is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with 20 years’ experience in the community sector in various roles from direct support work, case management, counselling and program management.
Marisa’s focus has been on working with victims of violence in various contexts in youth homelessness, residential Out Of Home Care, disability and counselling services. In recent years as Program Manager of Community Restorative Centre (CRC)’s Miranda Project she has been working with women impacted by the Criminal Justice System who themselves have been victims of Domestic and Family Violence, and the ever-rising overrepresentation of First Nations Women.
CRC’s Miranda Project is an innovative, gender specific approach to crime prevention for women with complex needs who are at risk of both ongoing criminal justice system involvement and family and domestic violence.
At the core of the Miranda Project is the provision of trauma informed holistic and inclusive support, case management and referral. Supporting women through diversionary options and reducing reoffending by disrupting the cycle of victimisation to criminalisation by creating genuine pathways to healing, supports, opportunities and mainstream services.
Run by women for women, the Miranda Project works to empower women to live lives free from violence and free the criminal justice system.
