Zoology Club Quiz Night

The Zoology Club is back with another pub quiz! All the bird enthusiasts and twitchers out there be excited as this semesters quiz will be bird themed 🦅🦉🦜🦚

This quiz night will be focused on the Critically Endangered Western Group Parrot 🥳 All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Friends of the Western Ground Parrot, and there will be super cute prizes up for grabs! This night will also be joined by guest speaker Allan Burbridge, a Principle Research Scientist in the Science and Conservation Division of DBCA.

Here’s some information on the ‘Critically Endangered’ Western Ground Parrot aka Kyloring:
- They’re restricted to coastal heathland in southern Western Australia
- One of the most threatened birds in Australia, with estimates showing between 100-150 left in the wild
- Can be distinguished by their yellow bellies, red band above their beaks, and their bright green mottled plumage
- Quite elusive birds, mostly vocal around dawn and dusk, and spend their days feeding on or near the ground in dense vegetation
