Discover Fernhill Estate - FREE community event, registration required!

Mulgoa’s magnificent Fernhill Estate is opening its gates to the community for a look inside the historic rural estate and future parkland for western Sydney.  

Come and explore Fernhill Estate’s rich history and breath taking natural landscape on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th  April.

The event is FREE. To help us manage crowd numbers, please register to book your place.



Please note, alcohol and dogs are not permitted at this event.

Saturday 29th April -

Morning session: 10am – 12.30pm

Afternoon session: 2pm – 4.30pm

Sunday 30th April - 

Morning session: 10am – 12.30pm

Afternoon session: 2pm – 4.30pm

Explore what's on

Food and drink: Fernhill Estate is the perfect place for a picnic! Soak up the surrounds with your own picnic basket and rug. There will also be hot and cold drinks and sweet and savoury picnic snacks available to purchase. 

Live music: Let the good times roll with feel good music performed by strings trio Highly Strung at Fernhill House, or head to the Hayshed for some country/blues entertainment. 

 Activities: Bush arts, crafts and games led by Greater Sydney Parklands’ award-winning educators will keep the kids entertained. Suitable for kids aged 5-12 years old.

  • Bush craft village: Do you have what it takes to survive in the bush surrounding Fernhill Estate? Learn bush survival skills with our education rangers at The Hayshed.
  • Fernhill arts and games:  Join us for early colonial games and art making inspired by the early colonial pastoralist Cox family, who built Fernhill Estate.

Guided tours: We have a range of tours on offer throughout the day. 

Meeting Point: Main Entrance Historic House

- 11.00am and 2.30pm: From Woodland to Escarpment - Explore Fernhill’s landscapes.

 - 11.30am: First Nations’ Culture Talk- Listen to Darug educators sharing their cultural knowledge.

 - 12.00pm and 3:30pm: From Roadbuilders to Parklands - Discover Fernhill’s history since the 19th century. 

 - 3.00pm:  First Nations’ Culture Tour - Join Darug educators when they share their knowledge about the First Nation culture of this area. 

Do not attend our programs, if

  • You show any COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell
  • You have returned a positive Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test
  • You have been asked to self-isolate

Please follow the NSW Health COVID-19 testing and self-isolating Health Order advice. We will refund your ticket if you or your child are not able to attend due to any of the above reasons
