Hot Chips night ride

Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

Flashing lights, bikes, and hot chips. Hot chips, flashing lights, and bikes. Whatever the order, we're sure there are people in the Can who want to roll to some hot chip joints and savour that hot potato goodness fresh from a deep fryer. Cycling is a social activity, and it soars to another level when it features food.

New to Canberra? This ride will help you get your bearings in one of the few national capitals whose basic layout was thanks to an international design competition (won by Marion Mahony Griffin and Walter Burley Griffin).

This ride involves rolling to the Fish Shack on Bunda Street, ordering enough for everyone, devouring the goodies, then rolling clockwise around the lake via car-free Wendouree Drive (pretend you're in the Netherlands and hold hands with someone you care about). Then back over Commonwealth Ave bridge, into the Australian National University's campus, before following the bikepath beside Sullivans Creek to Flathead fish and chip shop at the Duxton Hotel, O'Connor shops.

Donations for the hot chips are welcome, if you can afford it. If you can't, roll and eat with us anyway. We welcome all people on all cycles. Our only requirement is that your freedom machine must have brakes. (And lights if you can afford them too).
