Welcome to the Event night of HERITAGE HANDS - a solo exhibition showcasing the beautifully poignant works of artist, Melissa Hoedel.
Melissa Hoedel is a Brisbane-based photographer whose work explores heritage, craft, and the human stories behind skilled hands. Her practice documents artisans across Australia, honouring cultural traditions - old and emerging - and celebrating the makers who shape, repair, and preserve the world around us.
"Heritage Hands" reveals the beauty, skill, and fragility of traditional crafts still practised today. This photographic study invites viewers into the workshops and worlds of artisans, celebrating inherited knowledge, cultural lineage, and the human connection embedded in handmade work - honouring skills that continue as vital threads in our shared cultural fabric.
