Event description
MS Otago invites people of all ages and abilities to Move for MS on Sunday the 6th of October at Wingatui Racecourse.
There is plenty of family friendly fun to be had including:
- Races
- 5km, 3km, and 1km all ages and all abilities races
- Race registration opens at 11am. 5km race at 12pm, 3km race at 12:30pm. 1km race at 1pm.
- Spot Prizes for race ticket holders (you must be at the spot prize draw to claim your prize). Spot prize draw at 1:30pm.
- Spot prizes kindly donated from these local businesses.

Tickets are priced at:
Adult - $10.60 (including ticket fees)
Child (under 16) - $5.45 (including ticket fees)
Infant (under 2) - Free
Family Pass (2 adults and up to 4 children) - $31.20 (including ticket fees)

This is a fundraising event for MS Otago.
MS Otago provides support, information, advocacy and education for people affected by multiple sclerosis and related conditions across all of Otago.
All funds raised in Otago, stay in Otago and go directly benefit our local community.
Frequently asked questions:
Do I have to run?
Not unless you want to! This event is about getting the community to move no matter how that looks for you. You can walk, run, dance, jump and use mobility aids. When we say However you move, Move for MS, we really mean it!
Who can enter?
We welcome entries from people of all ages and abilities. You are welcome to bring small children in a pram. Please note that participants are responsible for ensuring that they are participating within their own capabilities.
Is it competitive?
Not unless you want it to be. if you want to compete against friends and family to see who is the fastest, or try and beat a personal best then absolutely go for it, Equally if you just want to a casual stroll around the racecourse that is absolutely fine as well.
Are there prizes?
There are spot prizes available for all race ticket holders. Spot prizes will be drawn after the races, and you need to be present at the spot prize draw to win. ALl racers will receive a certificate of completion of their race.
What other activities will be available on the day?
As well as the races there will also be food trucks, market stalls, community stalls, Face painting, bouncy castle, carnival games, outdoor games, certificate decorating, paper plane competition and a swing riot taster class.
Do I need a ticket to attend if i do not want to do a race and just want to do the other activities?
This event is open to the entire community. However race ticket holders will have guaranteed access to the event. IN the event that all race tickets are sold we will be at capacity and will not be able to allow non race ticket holders onto the site. So the only way to guarantee entry is to buy a race ticket.
Am I allowed to bring my dog/pet
Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs or pets at this event, except for certified disability assist dogs.
Will this event run if it is raining?
This event will run in light rain and wind conditions. Please note that some activities (for example the bouncy castle) will be unavailable in the event of windy/rainy conditions due to safety reasons. If there is a forecast for severe adverse weather conditions we will need to cancel this event. In this case race ticket holders will be contacted for refunds to be processed.
What should I wear?
the colour for MS is orange. We encourage participants to come in orange.
Ensure you wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Also ensure you dress for the ever changing dunedin spring weather. We recommend participants bring both wet and warm weather clothing. There will be sunscreen available on the day.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing some extra money for market stalls, food trucks and activities. We recommend bringing some cash as some activities and market stalls are cash only.
