StoryJam Open Mic Night
Description
StoryJam is a brand new monthly storytelling night on the Sunshine Coast.
A place where ordinary people tell extraordinary stories.
Stories that make us laugh.
Stories that surprise us.
Stories that remind us what it means to be human.
Every month we'll explore a different theme and invite members of our community to step up to the microphone and share a true personal story from their own lives.
Our inaugural theme is:
"It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time"
We've all got one.
The trip that went wrong.
The decision we should have thought through.
The brilliant idea that definitely wasn't.
The moment that seemed perfect ... until it wasn't.
Expect laughter, unexpected twists, hard-earned lessons and plenty of moments you'll recognise from your own life.
Just real people sharing real stories.
Storytelling is one of the oldest ways human beings connect. We laugh together, learn from each other, and discover that we're often far more alike than we realise.
Whether you come to tell a story, cheer on a friend, meet new people, or simply sit back and listen, StoryJam is about community, courage, connection and the timeless power of a great story.

Format for the Evening
The evening is divided into two parts.
Part One - Featured Stories
The night begins with a short welcome and opening story from host Bobbi.
We'll then hear a series of true stories inspired by the theme of the night. Some storytellers may be invited in advance, while others will be selected from audience members who put their names in the hat !
Each storyteller will have up to 10 minutes to share their story, after which we get to tell them what we loved about it.
We'll continue sharing stories until around 8:00pm, before taking a short break.
Every StoryJam will be a little different, and the number of storytellers may vary depending on the length of the stories and the flow of the evening.
Part Two - Open Mic StoryJam
After the break, it’s your turn !
Three surprise prompts will be revealed, hopefully triggering memories from true events in our lives.
These may be nostalgic, hilarious, poignant, inspiring, or vulnerable moments from your life.
Those wishing to participate will be invited to step up to the microphone and in up to 2 minutes share a short true story inspired by one of the prompts.
This is a chance to be spontaneous, have fun, surprise yourself, and maybe discover a forgotten story that’s been waiting to be told.
No experience required.
