Description
Emergency Expo is a free, community-focused event designed to bring people and emergency services together for a day of family-friendly learning, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences with your local emergency services. It goes beyond the traditional “red and blue lights” to showcase the full spectrum of emergency response from storms, floods, and fires to road incidents, waterways, and emergency welfare services.
The day is about building a shared understanding: what emergency services can do for the community, and how the community can better support and work alongside them in times of need, through a mix of static and dynamic displays, live demonstrations, and interactive activities, Emergency Expo raises awareness of the wide range of agencies and services that help keep our communities safe.
Proudly part of The Hills Shire Council’s Orange Blossom Festival, the event also offers career enquiry opportunities and helps build confidence in young people to approach and engage with emergency personnel. It’s a vibrant, family-friendly day that strengthens community connections while promoting preparedness, resilience, and trust.

NSW State Emergency Service
The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is the state’s lead agency for managing floods, storms and tsunami emergencies. Its trained volunteers and staff provide vital assistance to communities through storm damage response, flood rescues, evacuations, sandbagging, road crash support and other emergency operations, helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
NSW Rural Fire Service
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is responsible for protecting communities across NSW from bush fire emergencies. Supported by a network of volunteers, the RFS undertakes fire prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, while also assisting communities during other emergencies and disasters.
St John Ambulance
St John Ambulance Australia provides first aid, medical support and community health services, supported by trained staff and volunteers. Its teams assist at public events, emergencies and community activities, providing first aid and helping people receive the care they need while supporting the broader emergency services response.
VRA Rescue NSW
VRA Rescue is a volunteer-based emergency rescue organisation providing specialist rescue and support capabilities to communities across NSW. Its trained volunteers assist with road crash rescue, flood and storm response, search and rescue, and other emergency incidents, often working alongside NSW emergency services to help people in need.
Australian Federal Police
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is Australia’s national policing agency, protecting the community and supporting national security and law enforcement. The AFP works across Australia and internationally to investigate serious and organised crime, terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime and other complex offences, while also supporting state and territory police when required.
NSW Police Force (Castle Hill PAC, Mounted, Canine, Highway, Riot Squad & POLAIR)
The NSW Police Force is responsible for keeping people safe and maintaining law and order across New South Wales. Police officers respond to emergencies, crime, road incidents and public safety concerns, while specialist units provide additional capabilities for complex and high-risk situations. Working closely with other emergency services and the community, NSW Police plays a vital role in protecting and supporting the people of NSW.
Australian Defence Course - Army
The Australian Army provides trained personnel and specialist capabilities to protect Australia and support the nation during emergencies and major events. Working alongside government and emergency services when required, Army personnel can provide logistics, engineering, transport, communications, disaster response and other specialist support, helping communities when additional resources and capabilities are needed.
Fire + Rescue NSW
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) protects communities across NSW by responding to fires, hazardous materials incidents, road crashes, rescues and other emergencies. Firefighters use specialist equipment, training and technology to save lives, protect property and support communities before, during and after emergencies.
NSW Ambulance - Special Operationa Unit
Note: Availability depends on operational activity. The NSW Ambulance Special Operations Unit provides specialist medical and operational support for incidents that are complex, high-risk or occur in challenging environments. Its highly trained paramedics can operate alongside other emergency services during major incidents, hazardous environments, remote operations and situations requiring specialist medical capabilities, helping provide care where standard ambulance operations may be difficult.
Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter
Note: Availability depends on operational activity. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service provides rapid aeromedical and rescue support to communities across NSW and beyond. Highly trained medical, aviation and rescue crews respond to serious accidents, medical emergencies, search and rescue operations and incidents in remote or difficult-to-access locations, delivering specialist care and helping transport patients quickly to appropriate medical facilities.
TfNSW, Road Operations, Emergency Patrols, Drone Operations & Incident Rail Commander
Transport for NSW specialist teams provide a range of capabilities that help manage transport networks, respond to incidents and support community safety. Traffic Commanders, Drone Operations and Incident Rail Commanders work alongside emergency services and transport operators to provide incident coordination, aerial intelligence, traffic management and rail response, helping keep people moving safely and supporting effective emergency responses.
Surf Life Saving NSW
Surf Life Saving NSW helps keep people safe in and around the water through a network of trained volunteers, professional lifeguards and specialist capabilities. Its members provide beach patrols, preventative education, first aid, water rescues, search and rescue and emergency response, helping communities enjoy the coastline safely.
Marine Rescue
Marine Rescue NSW is a volunteer-based emergency service dedicated to keeping people safe on the water. Its trained crews provide marine rescue, emergency response, search and rescue, radio communications and boating safety support, working with other emergency services to assist boaters in trouble and help prevent incidents on NSW waterways.
NSW Maritime
NSW Maritime, part of Transport for NSW, helps keep people safe on NSW waterways by regulating boating and maritime activities. Its teams support boating safety, compliance, education, vessel registration and maritime incident response, working with other agencies to promote safe and responsible use of our waterways.
Salvation Army Emergency Services
The Salvation Army Emergency Services provides practical and compassionate support to communities and emergency service personnel during emergencies and disasters. Trained teams can provide food, refreshments, hydration and welfare support at major incidents, helping responders and affected communities maintain their wellbeing during challenging situations.
Careflight (Pending Confirmation)
CareFlight provides rapid aeromedical and critical care services to people in emergencies, particularly when specialist medical assistance is needed quickly or patients are in remote or difficult-to-access locations. Its highly trained medical and aviation teams respond to serious accidents, medical emergencies, search and rescue operations and disaster situations, providing critical care and transport when every minute matters.
RSPCA NSW | Emergency Response Team
The RSPCA NSW Emergency Response Team provides specialist support for animals affected by emergencies and disasters. Working alongside emergency services and other agencies, the team can assist with animal rescue, evacuation, welfare assessments and emergency care, helping protect animals and their owners when communities are impacted by major incidents.
WIRES
WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation, providing support for sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. Its trained volunteers respond to wildlife rescues, emergency incidents and natural disasters, helping rescue, rehabilitate and release native animals while providing the community with advice on how to safely respond when wildlife is in need.
Endeavour Energy
Endeavour Energy operates and maintains the electricity network across much of Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas. Its teams respond to power outages, electrical faults, storms, damaged infrastructure and other network emergencies, working to keep the community safe and restore electricity as quickly as possible.
NSW Telco Authority
NSW Telco Authority provides and manages critical telecommunications services that help NSW Government agencies and emergency services stay connected when it matters most. Its specialist teams support secure communications, radio networks, connectivity and communications during major incidents and emergencies, helping emergency services coordinate their response and keep communities safe.
Before You Dig Australia (BYDA)
Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) helps people identify underground utility infrastructure before they dig, excavate or undertake construction work. By providing information about the location of underground electricity, gas, telecommunications, water and other services, BYDA helps prevent damage to essential infrastructure, avoid injuries and keep workers and communities safe.
CREST
CREST provides specialist support and capabilities that assist emergency services and the community during incidents and emergencies. Its trained personnel work alongside other agencies to provide specialist response, operational support and community assistance, helping strengthen the overall emergency management response.
The Hills Shire Council
The Hills Shire Council supports the local community before, during and after emergencies, working closely with emergency services and other agencies. Council teams help with community preparedness, local emergency response, recovery, infrastructure and community support, helping residents stay informed, safe and resilient.
NSW Reconstruction Authority
The NSW Reconstruction Authority leads and coordinates recovery and reconstruction following disasters and major emergencies across NSW. Working with communities, government agencies and other partners, the Authority supports disaster preparedness, recovery, reconstruction and resilience, helping communities rebuild stronger and better prepared for future events.
TOLL Aeromedical (TBC)
Note: Availability depends on operational activity. Toll Aeromedical provides specialist aeromedical and aviation services supporting the transport of patients and medical teams when urgent or specialised care is required. Its aircraft and crews can support patient transfers, medical evacuations and time-critical aeromedical operations, helping connect patients with the care they need.
Sydney Water Corporation
Sydney Water provides essential water, wastewater and stormwater services to communities across Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra. Its teams respond to water and wastewater incidents, infrastructure failures, leaks, flooding and other emergencies, working to protect public health, the environment and the community while restoring essential services.
Fortem Australia
Fortem Australia supports the mental health and wellbeing of people who work in or support Australia's frontline and emergency services. Through wellbeing programs, peer support, community activities and practical resources, Fortem helps frontline personnel and their families build connection, resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Girl Guides NSW
Girl Guides Australia helps girls and young women develop confidence, leadership, practical skills and resilience through learning, adventure and community activities. Guiding encourages teamwork, preparedness, leadership and community participation, helping young people build skills they can carry into everyday life and future challenges.
Scouts NSW
Scouts Australia helps young people develop practical skills, confidence, leadership and resilience through adventure, learning and community participation. Scouts build capabilities in teamwork, problem-solving, preparedness, first aid, outdoor skills and leadership, helping young people become active and capable members of their communities.
Alive 90.5FM
Alive 90.5FM is a community radio station serving Western Sydney, providing local news, information, entertainment and a platform for community voices. Through its broadcasting and community involvement, the station helps connect, inform and engage local communities, particularly during important community events and initiatives.

Attendees are encouraged to move to a quieter area if required and speak with event crew if assistance is needed.

FAQs
- Can I take photos/video
In most instances, Yes. General photography is permitted however it is recommended to seek approval from the exhibitors when photos may include personal information, operational data or the inside of operational assets.
- Can I bring my drone?
No. For the safety of attendees and emergency operations, private drones are not permitted at the Sydney 000 Expo. Authorised drones may be operating within a controlled airspace environment, and unauthorised drone activity may interfere with emergency service and aviation assets, including helicopters.
Any unauthorised drone use may be reported to the appropriate authorities and all aviation activities suspended or cancelled. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe event environment.
- Privacy notice
By attending the Sydney 000 Expo, you acknowledge that photography and videography will be conducted throughout the event. Images and recordings may be used across social media, print, and other electronic platforms.
While an official media team will be present, please note that members of the public may also take photographs and recordings. The event organisers are not responsible for images captured or shared by attendees.
- Sensory Advisory
Please be aware that the Sydney 000 Expo includes emergency service demonstrations and displays. As part of the event, there may be crowds, loud noises, sirens, flashing lights, controlled fire demonstrations, and helicopter activity.
If you or someone in your group may be sensitive to these conditions, we encourage you to plan accordingly.
If you require assistance at any time, please speak with a member of the event crew, who will be happy to help.
- Safety in and around the event
Visitors should be aware that this is a live event and there may be unpredictable vehicle movements at any time. Please only enter the grounds through the main gate located on the Western end between the toilets and the Lions Club building. The gravel track around the perimeter of the grounds should not be used as this is the emergency access road for vehicles leaving to respond to genuine emergencies in the community.
- Will there be first aid services onsite?
Yes. St John Ambulance volunteers will be at Expo and can assist if needed.
- Will there be food available at Expo?
Yes. There will be a selection of food and beverage vendors at Expo ranging from sausage sizzles to plated meals and doughnuts to ice cream. There will also be a coffee van onsite. There will be some share marquees and seating. Please support our vendors who support us.
- How do I know if a particular exhibitor is at?
All exhibitors are listed in the exhibitor list, however, as most exhibitors are actively on duty, they may be delayed in arriving or may get called away to an genuine incident. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all displays are available all day, emergencies happen and will take priority.
