1,000 Scenes with Aden Date
Event description
How do you get really good at improv? The UCB's Billy Merritt suggests it's pretty simple: You just have to do 1,000 scenes in a year. We won't get through 1,000 in a single day, but you'll definitely hit your quota for the week.
These sessions will be focused on heavy side-coaching centred around the basics of the two-person scenes: vulnerability, confidence, and commitment. We'll be looking for a stable base reality, clear emotional dynamics, and a sense of space.
For more advanced performers, coaching will focus on 'stunts' and 'swells,' that is, the stuff you're bad at and the stuff you're good at. We'll help you discern your unique improv gifts while mitigating your improv weaknesses. While it's not required, we encourage you to sign up for two consecutive to gain the most from coaching. Participants should have completed at least one advanced class before signing up.
Classes are capped at eight people to ensure everyone receives quality coaching.
