Muses Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation committed to celebrating and elevating the music of women composers through performance, recording, education and advocacy. At the heart of Muses Inc. is Muses Trio, an acclaimed Australian chamber ensemble formed in 2013, dedicated to championing the voices of women in classical music, both past and present.

Our mission is to amplify the creative contributions of women composers by commissioning new works, curating powerful performances and recordings, fostering collaborations and delivering educational programs that inspire and empower participants. By highlighting the richness and diversity of music by women, much of which remains underrepresented due to historic and systemic inequities, we aim to reshape the classical music narrative and spark lasting cultural change within Australia and beyond.

Since its inception, Muses Trio, comprising Principal Artists Christa Powell (violin), Louise King (cello) and Therese Milanovic (piano), has built a strong national profile for passionate advocacy, compelling programming and artistic excellence within the performing arts sector. Our work consistently resonates with audiences, helping to carve out space for women’s voices in a traditionally male-dominated field.

In 2023, Muses Inc. was formally incorporated as an Association in Queensland and is now registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). A new Management Committee, comprised of eight professionals from across the music industry, legal and business sectors, was established to support the core ensemble and guide the organisation’s expansion.
