100 Women Exclusive Member Tour - Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services

Ishar Multicultural Women's Service provides health and wellbeing services for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Perth. Since 1992, Ishar has provided support for the physical, social, emotional and financial needs of up to 2500 women every year. In 2019, Ishar were recipients of a $30,000 grant from 100 Women to fund their Healthy Body, Healthy Minds, Happy Hearts program.
The project aimed to provide young women from a CaLD background with the knowledge of where and how to access help in relation to respectful relationships and sexual health as well as how to maintain physical and mental health and wellbeing. The program reached more than 120 young women and produced 6 videos to continue education beyond the life of the grant. The program was evaluated in 2021 with a Social Return on Investment of 6:1 meaning that for every $1 invested by 100 Women, $6 worth of benefit was estimated. The success of this program highlighted the need for a prevention program specifically for young CaLD women, which Ishar launched the following year.
