12 ways to reverse Climate Change using the soil as a Carbon SInk
Event description
Climate Change is indeed the challenge of our times!
The presenter of this workshop has researched this space for 16 years and in the workshop , Christo will present 12 innovative ways to make our soils carbon sinks and productive again producing nutritious nutrient dense foods.
One of the overlooked strategies to reverse climate change is going organic for
' The Soilution to Climate Change lies beneath our feet and it depends on what we choose to eat'
So Go 100% organic and it won't cost the Earth .
Some of the strategies are
1. Using a polymer that expands 300 times its initial volume when water is added.
2. Planting Blue Mallee Gums that drawdown large amounts of CO2 ,
15.7 tonnes per hectare per year after only four years of growth. By 14 years of growth, this can increase to as much as 25.3 tonnes.
This can be increased using the polymer and inoculating with fungal spores of melanising endophytic fungi.
3. Using basalt dust where the calcium and magnesium silicates get converted to b and calcium carbonate , at the rate of 10 toonns per hectare the effect lasts 10 years and if this was done on half of farmlands would draw down 2 gigatons of CO2 per year!.
The input costs can be paid for from the accrued carbon credits which are currently $15 a ton per hectare per year.
By combining these 12 strategies it is potentially possible to drawdown 100% of our current annual , global CO2 emissions .
All proceeds will go to this vital ground breaking research to demonstrate this at scale .
