MEET THE ARTISTS

Kelly Arcaro - Fibre Artist/Producer

Working across a broad range of tactile mediums in both abstraction and realism, I'm inspired by our connection with the natural world.

I’m Tash and I have been creating and working with clay for over 3 years now. I love creating with clay, working with such a natural and sustainable product where I can experiment and explore with texture, shape and function allowing you to create unique pieces each time. My focus is to design handmade, limited, timeless pieces to have in your home forever.

I am all for meaningful, purposeful and practical objects, not over consumption and fast-fashion trends. I love the look of a handmade piece of art, the fact it's one of a kind and not mass-produced; it has character and flair.

I've been a local to Kalgoorlie for the past 12 years now and I wanted to share my passion and love with my local community. I decided to step outside of my comfort zone, so in 2021 I started running my ceramic workshops locally to help others make time for them, create and share my passion.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

130 Women explores the contributions of local women to the place and society we live in today.

This Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre project, led by four local artists working with the community through a series of residencies, workshops, and community engagements, has created a body of work recognising women from our Goldfields history.

These women's stories are told through written and spoken words complimented by a diverse visual art installation showcasing work by over 80 creatives with connections to the Goldfields. The collaboration of over 130 artworks is also celebrating the 130-year anniversary of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
