In a time when attacks on innocent worshippers in mosque, church and synagogue try to divide us, the Abraham Conference plays an important role in bringing Jews, Christians and Muslims together to discuss contemporary issues of concern for the members of the three religions and for the wider society.

The theme of this year's Abraham Conference is "Healing Memories, Making History: Genuine Encounters in the Present will Redeem our Past for a Different Future". It challenges us not to see each other through the polemics of the past, but to encounter each other as we truly we are in the present, so as to build a different future. It is healing ‘memories’ to free us for a better future. It is making history by forging new relationships.

The international keynote speaker is Diego Sarrió Cucarella, M.Afr., Ph.D., Rector of the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI) in Rome. His research and publications focus on the intellectual history of Muslim-Christian relations and the continuing reciprocal theological constructions that this history has bequeathed to Christians and Muslims today. His keynote presentation, "The Abrahamic Religions: Shedding Past Polemics, Forging New Paradigms", will expound the conference theme.

A panel of local experts from each of the three religions will add stimulating discussion and answer questions from the delegates. The moderator will be former ABC broadcaster of The Religion Report, Mr John Cleary. Further conversation and connection among delegates over light refreshments is an integral part of the conference proceedings.
