Event description

Join us on November 13th, 2021 for the FAR 2021 Black Tie Gala at historic Customs House, situated on the Brisbane River, with keynote speaker Hon. Emma Hurst MP.

At gala this year you will enjoy five courses of delicious vegan fare, with a five-hour open bar serving premium bubbles, wine, beer, and soft drinks.

The evening will begin when the Open Bar starts at 6 pm on the terrace by the Brisbane River. Enjoy wonderful views of the Story Bridge as the sun goes down and the lights come on.

Dinner will then commence inside with a delectable menu of vegan treats:

Roll with olive oil

Mushroom tart tatin, onion caramel, truffle, soft herbs

Gnocchi with an eclectic selection of seasonal vegetables

Chocolate tofu tart, raspberry, chocolate sorbet

Coffee or tea with chocolate

At table drink service is available through the night, or drinks can be obtained from the bar. The Open Bar is included for the entire duration of the event.

Our keynote speaker is the Hon. Emma Hurst MP. Emma was elected to the upper house of the NSW Parliament and is the first female to be seated from her party. A former psychologist, Emma has worked tirelessly for the rights of animals for many years with a background in campaigning, political lobbying, and media work.

Since she was elected in March 2019, Emma has used her time in parliament to bring animals to the forefront of political discussion: running inquiries into battery hens and animals in entertainment, preparing legislation to ban puppy farms, securing legislative reform on the link between domestic violence and animal abuse, banning the breeding and importation of captive dolphins, increasing penalties for animal abuse, and campaigning against the use of animals in experimentation.

You will of course also hear from our President Brad King and enjoy the premiere of our 2021 End of Year video.

During the night you will have the opportunity to bid for items from our silent auction, including art from local influential artists and some exotic adventures (bidding is only open to gala attendees).

Our MC Rob Wilkinson will keep the evening moving along in his witty style, and he will tell you all about the opportunities on the night to win some great prizes. Every penny of profit and funds raised from the night of the event will go directly to the animals.

During the latter part of the evening the dancefloor will open up, or you can take the opportunity to relax in peace by the Brisbane river on the private river terrace. The Open Bar remains until 11pm when the music winds down and we bid you farewell.

This is a Covidsafe event. Limited tickets are available to ensure compliance with Queensland Government occupancy limits.

NOTICE: Farm Animal Rescue does not endorse or advocate for any political party. The inclusion of Hon. Emma Hurst MP in the gala program is not an endorsement of her candidacy nor of the party that she represents.
