2022 Chinese Moon Festival Banquet
Event description
The Moon Festival – or Mid-Autumn Festival – is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture, on par with the Chinese New Year. Dating back over 3,000 years it celebrates Chang’e, the Moon Goddess, who was given the elixir of immortality by the Emperor of Heaven and flew to the moon after her husband, an archer, shot down 9 suns and saved the world. With some variation in other traditions, the festival is celebrated in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other East and Southeast Asian countries.
These days the Moon Festival is a time for families and friends to get together and give thanks for the blessings of the moon – harmony, and unity.
Join us for an evening of Rotarian fellowship, share in a 10-course Chinese banquet, and learn more about this enduring Chinese cultural tradition.
