The 2022 NSW Child Protection Legal Conference will bring together lawyers, judicial officers, social workers,
clinicians, academics, researchers and others to hear about current issues, recent developments and case law,
research outcomes and interdisciplinary best practice in areas related to child protection.
Conference Topics
The conference will examine how practitioners can best navigate children and their families through the child
protection legal system, while addressing their psychological, emotional, health and social welfare needs and
issues.
In recognition of National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, the conference will feature sessions on how we can learn from the past to create a better future and experience for First Nations’ children and families. Sessions will focus on cultural planning and how we can do things differently for First Nations' families.
The conference will also feature sessions on Voices of Children in Care, the experiences of young people in Youth Justice, including those young people involved in both the care and crime systems, and Family Violence and Coercive Control presented by international expert Dr Marsha Scott, CEO Scottish Women’s Aid.
