Ascham Middle School students present a captivating theatrical experience: This Changes Everything by Joel Horwood, directed by Jessy Heath

Written in 2015 as part of an initiative to address gender imbalance and inequality in theatre, Horwood’s riveting script centres the stories of teenage girls, and their disillusionment with the status quo.

A group of young women have vanished into thin air, running away to build an experimental society called ‘The Community’ on an abandoned offshore platform. This new world promises a fresh start, where the shackles of societal norms can be discarded. Yet, beneath this utopian façade, a shadow of darkness looms.

Ascham School invites you to immerse yourself in this gripping drama, where idealism and self-discovery converge in a powerful allegory for the world inherited by this generation. The play is driven by a desire to embolden the voices of young women, and to present a vision of a more equitable and sustainable society.
