2023 Festival Address
Event description
Join us for the 2023 Festival Address, delivered by Professor Lyn Beazley AO, former Chief Scientist for Western Australia, 2015 WA Australian of the Year and current WA Parks Ambassador
Understanding and protecting WA's unique environment
Western Australia is replete with wonders, embracing both tropical and temperate environments and including ecosystems as diverse as deserts, spectacular forests, waterways and coasts that fringe vast oceans. Attractions are cultural too, with human history stretching back at least 50,000 years, a geology with ancient rocks, and an extensive fossil record. I will touch on the amazing work scientists and the community are doing to ensure these treasures can be better understood and be protected for many generations to come.
Wine and cheese will be served before the presentation with supper by Zamia to follow.
